wonderful in all ways
i use maca in my morning smoothie -- it provides, along with the other smoothed products (chlorella or spirulina, ground flax, trace minerals, vegetarian protein powder, blueberries and home-made nut milk), a great start to the day and energy for many hours.
regarding the taste -- i actually miss it when it is not in my smoothies. it gives a deep, smoky flavor but it certainly isn't the dominant flavor as that would be quite strong.

Maca Powder... easy to include in diet.
It is very easy to put it in your hot cereal or in a milk shake, and the flavor is malty, not bad at all, I include a tsp. of Maca powder and 4 tsps. of Flax powder together, it only makes the cereal or shake better tasting and more filling. Enjoy! 2007-02-16

disappointed
When I recived my maca powder a lot of it had leaked out in the shipping box. I seems that you can't return grocery items so I feel basically cheated out of $15 bucks, because who wants to eat somthing that was shipped in a box damaged enough to leak. So..I say buyer beware 2007-02-04

taking daily for 6 months, mix 1/2 tsp with smoothie, overpowering taste is manageable
the health benefits are definately worth trying to find ways to sparingly use the maca powder in your daily diet. I mix a small amount into my smoothies and usually get a dose in the morning and also in the evening. the reviews are correct, the taste is strong on can be overbearing, but I have found that in the proper portions, you can hardly notice the taste. I cannot comment on using this in foods that you cook or bake as I only use it in cold / room temperature applications. adding heat to nutrients has never been a good idea in my opinion. 2007-01-10

pretty good stuff
This was my first foray into maca as food. There is definitely a taste to maca which I am not accustomed to yet, and it can easily overpower some things with which I've combined it. I've learned to go easy on the amount I'll add to pancakes or breads, though it's important to note that it combines differently with various other foods. One friend said she thought it combined very well with a zucchini drink that she makes. I've also had some success in combining it with cacao, but again I overdid it at first. Go easy to begin with. 2007-01-09
