Zatarain's red bean seasoning is the bomb! It has easy-to-follow instructions on the box and the result is consistently delicious. I like them juicy, so I use 8C of water. For all of you who prefer cooking porkless - FYI, I cook vegetarian beans. I use a hickory seasoning that gives the flavor of smoked meats without all the extra salt and fat. This is a definite winner.

I bought Zatarain's in the local grocery stores for years, but I have been unable to find it lately. So Amazon to the rescue. It's much cheaper by bulk anyway. Thanks, Amazon.

I've tried all kinds of famous red bean recipes from scratch yet nothing beats Zatarain's red bean seasoning mix - it's simple, easy and is one of my family's absolute favorites. I've had friends come over who would swear that no box would ever beat their (friends, grandma's, mom's, etc.) recipe but all go away agreeing that Zatarain's is truly the best. I typically use with smoked turkey sausage and have been making it for over 12+ years now. Almost impossible to find in stores in the NW. Ordering on-line is best bet. Enjoy!
