One pound Whole Nutmeg

Finding small bottles of nutmeg meant specialty stores and expense -- a couple of ounces of nutmeg for many dollars. This Christmas, a nutmeg grinder was a gift given to all the ladies in my family -- one just as my mother hung in her kitchen -- along with fresh nutmeg. I paid less for this pound of nutmeg, split it between our girls in small jelly jars for a fraction of the small bottle cost. We've already tasted the added flavor in a variety of dishes. Nothing compares to the fresh grating.
