Butter Buds, 4-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12)

I used to be able to buy these at my local supermarket, but they no longer carry them.

I primarily use them for dunking shellfish. I'm conscious of my saturated fat intake, and I find them to be an acceptable substitute, in some circumstances.

They're pretty useless for baked potatoes...too watery, but they are just fine for snow crab or lobster. In fact, I've come to prefer the taste to drawn butter.

I was so glad to find them for sale on Amazon, and bought the whole box. I think I'll have enough butter buds to last a lifetime.

This is a great product for those who are trying to eat healthy or diet. It is a wonderful substitute for butter for baking, cooking, etc. It gives the butter flavor without adding all the fat of the butter.

My case of 12 Butter Buds arrived with yellow powder sifting from the outer packaging. By the time I got to the 12 boxes inside the 2 boxes that enclosed them, I literally had a good-sized pile of yellow powder all over my kitchen table and floor. I began to open each of the 12 boxes and discovered that many of the foil packets inside were not sealed and at least half the contents had leaked from each into the outer box and sifted from the corners into the outermost packaging. I would have to think this happened at the Butter Buds factory and was no fault of Amazon. Admittedly, Amazon refunded my money and I chucked the whole thing into the trash since they don't allow you to return food items. I was offered an exchange but opted for the refund. Hopefully, this was an anomaly, but you might want to beware of yellow powder sifting from your purchase and contact Amazon instead of ignoring it.

I have used real butter for years. This product is a shabby imitation, at best. It has practically no flavor, didn't taste even close to real butter to me. And if you mix it per instructions, it is extremely watery and has none of the "texture" of real butter. It was so disappointing I wouldn't even give it away to the local food bank. I simply threw it all out. It seemed like a healthy idea, but I'd actually rather use nothing at all as a condiment than to use this product.

These smaller packets are so great to take with you, especially if you're intent on keeping your fat or carb intake at low levels. The product is tasty and rich in butter flavor when sprinkled on moist foods.
The other nice thing about these boxed packets is that they come with a handy little recipe sheet that in many cases also includes a coupon toward the purchase of a Butter Buds product. Highly recommended!
