Good salad dressing and good for my students
After my students read the story "Food From the Hood" they created food labels that reflects our school in Oakland.
I ordered Food From the Hood salad dressing so my students could see the label on a real product. It was a great addition to this project.
The very pleasant plus is that I'm enjoying a very good salad dressing!

plan to try it
I'm amused that neither reviewer so far mentions how it tastes, but rather made their decision to buy or not based on politics.
I happen to be European-American (really? Is that our PC name now?).
I think it's terrific that kids are learning how to run a business in high school, and the fact that the proceeds can help them go to college is great. (If you check their website, the scholarships go to "student managers"...not just inner city students. So, if they participate, they can get money for college.)
I'm looking forward to trying this dressing and am happy to support students trying to learn and looking to work hard to be successful, instead of expecting everything handed to them.
I'll update this review once I know how it actually tastes! :-)
For now, since I have to pick something, I'll give it a four to offset the review that slammed it without trying it.

I cannot buy this product
I have read that people like the salad dressings. However, I cannot bring myself to puchase their products because their premise is discriminatory in nature.
All minorities have access to special scholarships (Federal minority grants & scholarships, NAACP), as well as an easier path to college entrance simply based on their skin color.
European-Americans have access to only the basic college scholarships and grants. Therefore, this is yet another "benefit" for a specific population based soley on a person's skin tone.

If I created a product called "Food from the 'Burbs", Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson would rail against it because it would insinuate that the profits from the sales of the products would go to European-American kids.

Food from the 'Hood insinuates that buying their products helps inner city black kids go to college. This assumes that there are NO European-American kids living in or around "the 'hood", and even if there were, they would not/should not benefit from the sales of this product simply because they are not black.

I could not help but notice that there are no non-black alumni listed on your website, so I must assume that my assumptions are correct. In my opinion, this product, while it may be a great salad dressing, fails in the same category as the "FUBU" line because that product is made solely for the benefit of one race. If there was a clothing line made solely for European-Americans, the black community would scream "racism"

Best dressing ever!
I am so excited to find this dressing once again. I used it for over 3 years while living in California. I love the story behind it, being a teacher for 9 years myself I know how important it is to assist kids in finding oppurtunities that give their efforts meaning. After moving to Kansas and now Florida I have never found it again. So glad I finally thought of checking on line. I can't wait to recieve the shippment.
Sincerely, Kathy Lin Rivadeneira
