Fantastic Foods Classic French Onion Vegetarian Soup, 0.8-Ounce Microwavable Cups (Pack of 12)

I was all set last week to order this soup in bulk (the pack of 12), then read the two negative reviews and figured I should try out an individual serving (local health food store carries it) first. Now it's my favorite among the Fantastic Foods soups. It seems key that you let the soup steep for the full recommended time (4+ minutes) to let the onions fully reconstitute. Going vegetarian again after several years of omnivorous consumption, I knew I was going to miss french onion soup if I couldn't find a good beef-free alternative, and now I have one. Would-be buyers should be aware, however, that this soup (like most others in the same line), is hardly substantial; at 90 calories, it could either be a snack or just part of a lunch. On the other hand, it has 3 grams of protein, which is more than I'd generally expect from such lite vegetarian fare.

Container is also recyclable, although it's #5 plastic, not accepted by all recycling centers, so be aware of that.

I bought the pack of 12 and regret doing so. I thought these would be decent soups for their price but I was regretfully wrong. The soups are bland and taste exremely horrible and to add, they smell foul also! I can only stomach things and I'm going to donate the rest of the pack.

This is just like Cup Noodles without the noodles. Eek.
